Margaret Corvid will give you an introduction to BDSM and how the culture and community works in the UK. She will cover the various different kinds of kink - from foot fetish to whips - BDSM relationships, negotiation and consent, as well as BDSM and the law. She'll also debunk lots of myths about BDSM that have populated our culture since "50 Shades of Grey", as well as the recent porn panic laws. She will explain what it's like to be, or to visit, a professional Dominatrix.
Margaret Corvid is a professional Domme and blogger of the New Statesman writing the column "Power Trip" which covers kink and sex work from both a personal and professional perspective.
This is a free event, although donations to help fund Teesside Skeptics in the Pub events are appreciated. We suggest £3, or whatever you can afford. O'Connells is 5 minutes walk from the Bus station and 10 minutes from the Railway station. There is parking outside the pub and when that is full there is more in the next street.
*Note: This talk covers themes of an adult nature. Under-18s are not permitted. ID may be requested by staff.
Apologies for this change to our schedule.
We are instead going to go for our first Open Mike night of the year in August and the information below is for the August Open Mic night.
We have time for 6 times 10-minute slots for anybody to fill, talking about any subject they feel needs airing. Each slot is followed by 5 minutes question and answer session.
Please send your requests for a slot to me privately or to the Facebook Group. Not many slots left. If you intend to use slides then please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org at the latest 3 days before the night.
